IMPACT ABSTINENCE PROGRAM
|
"I Won't Until 'I Do' " ... is an educational program for Gwinnett students promoting the
benefits and value of sexual abstinence until marriage.
The IMPACT Program provides speakers to the high schools and middle schools in Gwinnett County. We offer our speakers as a community service educational program of the PRCG. Our services are
available to all students and school staff without discrimination. We do not charge for any of our
services.
We have been approved by the Gwinnett County [Georgia] Public School System to provide guest speakers in the classroom who assist in informing students in the following areas:
Goal setting - the importance of setting goals and how risky behavior can keep one from
meeting those goals.
Making good decisions - the process and barriers to making good decisions, effects of alcohol
in the decision-making process
Risks associated with sexual activity - physical (pregnancy and STDs) and emotional (regret,
anger, guilt, depression)
Unexpected pregnancy and its impact on one's life
STDs and their serious health consequences
"Safe sex" does not eliminate the risk of contracting STDs
Abstinence is the only way to avoid the risks associated with sexual activity
Building healthy relationships
Sex until marriage is worth waiting for and YOU are worth waiting for
Overcoming and responding to pressures to become involved sexually from peers and media,
and it's ok to say "no" - teaching assertive refusal skills
Starting over if already sexually active - how to make smart decisions and have 2nd chances
Making the best, informed decisions regarding sex and risky behaviors so that one can be risk
and worry free to have the best possible future. |
